Francine Reed

YOU HAVEN'T SEEN FRANCINE REED UNTIL YOU'VE SEEN HER WITH FAMILY!

Hot off her summer tour with Lyle Lovett, the “most beloved singer in the city” and “queen of the blues” Francine Reed is excited to return to the Atlanta stage for the first time in two years on September 26, 2009, at Mablehouse Amphitheatre to perform “An Evening with Francine Reed & Family.”

It will be a dual homecoming for the artist who has recorded with Willie Nelson, Delbert McClinton and has opened for powerhouses Roy Orbison, Miles Davis, Etta James among others.

Homecoming #1 is baby-sister Francine sharing the stage with sibli ngs Margo Reed, Mellody Winfield, and Michael Reed, all of whom have achieved critical acclaim. Additionally, family matriarch Girley will be featured. “I plan to sing a duet with my mother,” Francine whispers during a recent interview for the Atlanta Thunderbird Alumni Chapter who is hosting the event. “It is not often I get to perform with my family so you can see why I am looking forward to the biggest event for me this fall in Atlanta.”

The show’s first half will feature the Reed Family singing songs that they have been singing since their childhood, including old time gospel, jazz, r&b, and even some Christmas songs. “It’s always a time for giving, especially when you reach my age and I am the baby of the family!”

The second half will feature Francine and her favorite Atlanta band Java Monkey whom we all love. They are preparing special material for the upcoming concert and are going into practice sessions shortly.

Homecoming #2 is her return to “Thunderbird”. Prior to moving to Atlanta in the 1990’s Francine was a favorite on the Phoenix, Arizona, music scene. On two occasions in 1987 she performed at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in outlying Glendale. By bringing Francine back to Thunderbird, the Atlanta Chapter in association with the “ThunderCares Global Day of Giving” is funding scholarships to send Georgians to Thunderbird.

Be a part of history and see Francine Reed as you have never seen her before!
